Resize partition ntfs from MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition. In the Windows system, there are two file system mainly used. They are FAT file system and NTFS file system. Here we would like to introduce more about NTFS file system.
Stability and security of NTFS
Despite some defects in certain systems developed by Microsoft, but it really made a contribution to all people in the world. That is the NTFS file system. NTFS file system was firstly appeared in the Windows NT system in 1993. It had a much better performance than that of FAT file system. NTFS system is a log file system; it means that the file system shall keep a log file while writing something new in the disk. This function makes it possible to recover NTFS file system while some fatal error happens such as system crash. So this file system is much more powerful. In normal conditions, NTFS can quickly recover from error and no data loss would happen. Microsoft declares that users shall even have the rate of less than 1% to maintain the disk volumes by running CHKDSK Recovery System.
Another shining point of NTFS file system is that it has a much better security. It is also the reasons why NTFS file system is widely used in Windows Network. NTFS has a very powerful security system that allows specific settings on access to files. NTFS Master File Table (MFT) contains records for all the files. Each entry of MFT has a special metadata, called SD (security descriptor). This metadata contains the information on who have access to the file or the control info to the file folder. Each SD metadata also has a user list; this list is called Access Control List. Only the users in the list have the access to files.
